World MasterCard Fashion Week F/W 2014: Thomas Balint

PicMonkey CollagePicMonkey Collage2With his Fall 2014 collection, Michael Thomas Balint once again proves that he is among the best when it comes effortlessly cool style, clean lines and stellar tailoring.

Balint stays true to his design aesthetic of contemporary, minimalistic, wearable separates. The simplistic approach of the collection served as a compliment to the designer’s outstanding tailoring skills. Making a return appearance were Balint’s signature collarless, button-up dress shirts, paired with cuffed slim trousers. A new addition to the collection – a shirt made entirely of crushed velvet. Interestingly enough, one of the more striking dress shirt looks happened to be on a female model who strutted down the runway dressed in only a striped shirt, thigh-high socks and loafers. The overall look, while tinged with masculine influences, was both striking and sexy.

Undoubtedly, the real stand-outs of the line-up would have to be the well-constructed coats jackets and blazers – outerwear staples that every man should have in his closet. From the oversized mens blazers, the untraditional open-collar blazer jackets, the fabulous double-breasted cropped trenches, to the classic tailored overcoat, it’s pretty obvious that Michael loves to play around with proportions. The collection is a mix of contrasts as boxy, slouchy silhouettes were seen with the sleeker, fitted shapes.
